Robben and other injury problems

José Mourinho has stated that Arjen Robben had an injury at Real Betis on Tuesday and asked to come off, and did not storm down the tunnel as has been described.

This is an injury that has niggled for some time.

“It’s in the hamstring, but it looks like starting in the colon. Starting around the spine. It’s not a typical muscular injury. It’s not a rupture, it’s a pain that comes from the colon. When the game starts he feels okay, but when he feels tiredness the muscle is tight and he feels a very strange situation.

“So he feels a bit of frustration because he can’t play at his level. The boy is playing sometimes not feeling 100 per cent. We feel it’s not an injury that can be worse for playing, so sometimes we say let’s try, but the reality is that he’s not playing well, he is not confident, and this bad feeling in the hamstring coming from the spine is not good.”
